Dagestan State Medical University is a public University in Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan that's a federal subject in the Russian Federation. It is one of the biggest higher educational establishments in Dagestan.
It was founded in 1931 as the Teachers' Training Institute, and later, in 1957 it was converted into Dagestan State University (DSU) named after the national poet of Dagestan Suleyman Stalsky. The college consists of 16 scientific and academic centers, 17 faculties, 97 departments, 4 branches, 2 museums (organic and historical), an essential library, a biological station and a planetarium.
Currently, more than 5,000 students study at the university, amongst them there are more than 100 overseas students from 12 countries. Over 1,700 doctors annually improve their abilities at the Faculty of Advanced Medical.
In current years, the number of defended thesis has been multiplied and their quality has additionally been improved. During the specialized Council work, 166 theses, which include 32 doctoral and 134 applicants have been defended.
